Breaking News: The Catholic Church has finally risen to the height of its power!
It all began when Christianity became the official religion of Rome. Christianity was seen as a threat to the Roman Empire as Christians refused to worship the Roman Gods. Emperor Constantine of the Roman Empire legalized Christianity. Most of the Emperors that came after Constantine were all catholic. The Catholic Church was divided geographically between the east and the west.
The past years have been hard, but the people the work for the church say it all was definitely worth it. In these past years many things to help this church rise and stand happened. When Rome fell, much of Europe was not yet Christian. One of these was Ireland. A priest named Patrick, traveled to Ireland in the A.D. 400’s and spread the Christian message. He also set up churches and monasteries. Because of Patrick’s success, Pope Gregory I asked monks to become missionaries. In A.D. 597 he sent 40 monks to southern Britain for this cause. They were then allowed to build a church in Canterbury. In 1050, most people in Western Europe had become Catholics.
The Catholic Church is a very powerful institution. It has its own land, laws, and imposes taxes. The church accepted (and still accepts) gifts of all kinds from individuals who wanted special favors. The power of the Catholic Church grew with its wealth. The church also influences the political ideas and actions of powerful leaders in a variety of European nations. Opposition of the Catholic Church would always result in excommunication. This meant that the person could not attend any church services or receive sacraments. It made deep contributions to the Western philosophical tradition through the works of religious philosophers such as St. Augustine and Thomas Aquinas.
Currently in 1198, the Catholic Church is at the height of its power. This church has made a very big and powerful impact on England. I believe this church will be something people will still be talking about in 1000 years. Everyone in England wished the Catholic Church the best of luck to the end of its time. The government wants to thank everyone who contributed to make this church what it is today and helping it rise to power. Your time and work is greatly appreciated by all of England. Also, thanks to our great rulers, we are free to be Catholic for eternity.
